A New Invention, by Phillip Yiale
We are grateful for the generosity of Tara from Brooklyn! Her donation to Lift the Lid will go toward the scholarship fund at Mogonjet Secondary School in Kericho, Kenya, which assists dedicated students who cannot afford their school fees. Her donation, along with others who have given to the fund at Mogonjet, will keep at least three students in school for an entire year.
Tara is a Speech Pathologist for middle graders, so we’d like to share with her an age-appropriate poem from Namelok Junior Academy in Kisamis, Kenya.
Phillip Yiale, a student in Year Five at Namelok, has written a rhyming poem that heeds a warning to preserve our Earth called “A New Invention.” You can read about his urgent call for a new invention here. Thank you, Tara!
Phillip,
I’m so happy to share your poem with Tara, who is a teacher. She might even want to share it with some of her students. You handle a critical issue with a light and pleasant tone, which is a very smart way of getting people’s attention and being remembered. I hope to read more of your writing in the future!
Sara
Phillip,
Thank you for writing such a wonderful poem. I love that there’s so much truth in what you say. Keep up the terrific work!
