Ninth Annual Writing Competition at Mogonjet – Shy but Proud!

Ninth Writing Comp winners with books Mogonjet May 2019

We are proud to announce the winners of our Ninth Annual Writing Competition at Mogonjet Secondary School in Bomet County, Kenya (near Kericho.) Here is a note to Lift the Lid from Mogonjet School and our longterm partner Grace Foundation International:

“Parents came in large numbers. The pics were taken inside the school’s dining hall. Parents, staff and students deeply appreciated what you’re doing and asked me to convey their regards and appreciation to you. Many thanks indeed my friend for being such a faithful and understanding partner. We lack words to express our heartfelt gratitude. I gave the books and awards to the essay winners. Blessings my friend, let me know if well-received.”

One first place, five-second place winners, and two honorable mentions were chosen. Each second-place winner receives a monetary award to put toward his or her education, while the first place winner is given double the amount in order to purchase a study tool or special treat for his or her class. All participants receive books!

Brian from Form Two (Sophomore) is this year’s First Place winner. Here is Brian and his essays:

We continue to work on building the NEW LIBRARY at Mogonjet! (Our latest progress report: The library project a great surprise.) Please consider making a donation: Donate here.

Here are photos from the Awards Ceremony. Our students at Mogonjet, in particular, are camera shy. The school is in a rural town and photography is not common. In some ways, we consider their modesty a good thing.
