My Life Experience, by Faith Musimbi

A big thank you to Johanna and Tim Masters for making a donation to Lift the Lid in honor of their youngest grandson’s first birthday. 100% of their contribution will go to Lenana Girls High School’s scholarship fund, helping the most financially distressed students to stay in school.
Fifteen-year-old Faith Musimbi has written an essay titled “My Life Experience” as a show of gratitude. She writes, “Sometimes I missed school for weeks at a time because of hunger. When I was in Class Four, I was the best pupil in mathematics and science in class. This, and the fact that I didn’t have any food for lunch, caused me to stand out to my science teacher, Mrs. Lydia.”
In her essay posted below, you can read about the trials she faced before making it to Lenana Girls High School. Thank you, again, Johanna and Tim, for supporting bright girls like Faith, who deserve a good education!
Faith, thank you for your essay “My Life Experience.” You are a strong writer and I look forward to reading more of your work this year!
You do deserve a good education in high school and beyond. I hope you will always make the most of it, until you’re ready for your chosen field. The time will come when you are able to give back and it will give you the best feeling in the world!
Sara
Her determination in spite of what happened and is happening is worth all the help she could get to complete her education. A good budding writer whose skill can still be honed and improved.
Dear Faith,
Thank you for your inspiring essay. You are proving that faith in God and hard work does indeed pay off. Congratulations on your good marks! I know you will continue to do your very best and succeed in reaching your goals. My husband Tim and I are praying for you! Johanna
