Why School, by Jaynar Solana
When teacher Nonie at The School in a Cart asked the students if they wanted to go back to school after summer break, eleven-year-old Jaynar Solana wrote “Why School?” Many children Jaynar’s age take school for granted, others find it boring or intimidating, he sees it as a means to a better life, not just for himself, but also for his parents.
Thank you Timothy for making a donation to The School in a Cart in Cubao, the Philippines. Giving Jaynar’s poem and artwork to your grandson for his birthday is a great way to set a good example and to encourage Jaynar in his studies.
We hope Jaynar will keep up the good work. His schoolwork is supplemented by the School in a Cart. He knows that getting an education is a step towards fulfilling his dreams. It is Filipino culture for children to finish school so that they can help their parents.
