Our School Visits
Welcome! Here you will find links and posts highlighting our very special school visits. Our hope is that through our testimony, photos, and videos, you will feel some of the love and joy we experienced spending time with our students.
At Lift the Lid, we have been partnering with community leaders in Kenya, the Philippines, and Tanzania since 2010, helping them uplift students and improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods and villages for generations to come. We are in touch with our schools daily, but nothing compares to our visits, when we can witness our programs and works-in-progress, and celebrate our students’ talents and accomplishments together. Especially, nothing compares to a big hug, a high-five, singing and dancing, or sharing tears when it’s time to say, “Until next time!”

Our hearts are deeply invested in our daily work. The children know us because we are involved in their programs. We help them practice for recitals and presentations, and we encourage their writing by providing constructive feedback. When they experience setbacks, we help them move forward, and when they achieve success, we celebrate. Because they see us cheering for them, they work to their very best — and it shows. Whether they are developing a natural process for making much-needed sanitary pads, or writing and reciting poetry for the Global Girl Leading summit in the U.K., or writing essays advocating for education and other positive changes in their rural villages, they are showing us, their teachers, and the greater community what is possible when they are given the opportunity to shine.
*100% of all donations go to our schools, students, and specific projects, like those outlined in our TRIP SUMMARY and to offset supplies for school visits. We show highly motivated, disadvantaged kids that we believe in them and assist them in achieving their goals.
