This is one of our most exciting posts yet! Five of our students at Lenana Girls High School in Kitale, Kenya have been invited to travel to London — their first time on a plane overseas — to attend the GLOBAL GIRL LEADING summit hosted by Mulberry Schools Foundation and Mulberry Schools Trust in partnership with Applied Stories, a UK-based audio drama production company. I worked with eight of our students applying for the summit by submitting “letters to our daughters,” and from hundreds of letters around the world, two of our students’ writings were chosen for the Global Girl Leading anthology!! We’re so proud of Margaret and Mitchele’s hard work and brave writing on domestic violence and teen pregnancy.
In addition to attending the summit, the students will follow a five-day event-packed program of sightseeing, visiting schools, theater, and special dinners. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’m over the moon excited for them. It is our responsibility to pay for the airfare to London, and of the five students, we have two more fares to cover. Please, please help us make this incredible opportunity a reality for them!
