*PLEASE JOIN US IN WORKING TOWARDS THE CRITICAL GOALS OUTLINED IN OUR TRIP SUMMARY.

Our Kenya 2025 visit this August to Lenana Girls’ (boarding) High School, Keneni Stars Academy primary school, and Mogonjet Secondary School was a success from beginning to end. Every day exceeded our expectations, connecting with the students, witnessing the work we’ve done, and formulating future plans. Each volunteer was prepared to hold a workshop, working in multiple small groups. We brought our skills, teaching aerodynamics with paper airplanes, creative writing, martial arts, sales and marketing, and sports and well-being. Whether we worked with the high schoolers or our pre-primary children, they were curious, engaged, happy, and respectful. What did they teach us? Inner happiness is not bound by material possessions and may even shine brighter and be expressed more freely when there is more gratitude for simple gifts.

We stood in the first classroom Lift the Lid constructed, used the latrines we built, drank from the water storage we funded, and saw the lab equipment, computers, beds, desks…all provided by our donors, giving our students the space to study, grow, and achieve their goals. Additionally, we surveyed our works-in-progress, including a three-story building that will host critical classrooms, a library, office space, and a science lab. Without this space completed and furnished, we have to continue turning away hundreds of students who are deeply motivated to complete their education. Our teachers deserve higher salaries. (In Kenya, teachers in rural villages make between $80-$125 a month.) We saw a need for more bathrooms, and received the list of required lab equipment, so our high schoolers can take their national exams this October and November. In all, there was a lot to feel good about and a lot to keep us pushing forward. Our goals are outlined HERE.

You can see in the photo below the progress we’ve made constructing a three-story building for Keneni Stars Academy, which will provide classrooms, a science lab, a library, and teacher space to accommodate a total of 400 students, through 9th grade. We can then prepare our students to earn scholarships to quality high schools, beginning in 10th grade. Be a part of this critical building of nurturing and learning by donating to help us complete the construction. When you sponsor the completion of a classroom, we’ll show our gratitude by prominently displaying a plaque engraved with your name.

Our visit — our chance to laugh and learn with children — was a tremendous honor. When we were saying our tearful goodbyes, some of the girls said they hoped to make us proud. Oh, gosh, we couldn’t be more proud of who they are already. We wholeheartedly believe in the dreams they aspire to fulfill and hope you will join us in giving them the chance to contribute their knowledge, talents, and hearts to our world.

*100% of all donations go to our schools, students, and specific projects, like those outlined in our TRIP SUMMARY and to offset supplies for school visits. We show highly motivated, disadvantaged kids that we believe in them and assist them in achieving their goals. You’ll find secure options for making a tax-deductible donation here, and we’ll send you a student’s essay. If you’re interested in starting a pen pal, we’re happy to make that happen! Send an email to saragoff@saragoff.com. Thank you!
