Had It Not Been For You, by Richard Jay Del Rosario
Richard Jay is 15 years old and in the Ninth Grade. His Thank You letter makes it clear that he wouldn’t be where he is today if it weren’t for the donors who believe in him and the mission of The School in a Cart in Cubao, the Philippines. Lift the Lid supports The School in a Cart in providing for the children; that is, all the basics they aren’t receiving at ‘home,’ in shelters on the streets or in temporary government-funded rooms.
So that means offering shelter, daily meals, a place to shower, doctor check-ups, spiritual guidance, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and something which they can feel passionate about, such as, music, art, and writing.
The most important “Thank You!” is from the students. Here is Richard, with his original letter in Tagalog scanned below, plus a photo of him enjoying that “good and delicious food” you gave:
By the way, I am Richard Jay, 15 years old, studying at Jose P. Laurel Sr. High School and now am in 9th grade. Thank you very much. Had it not been for you, we would not have enjoyed good and delicious food.
Thank you for sending us your blessings. Thank you also for giving us school supplies. We were able to study better. We were able to organize a band because of what you gave us. I play the bass guitar and sometimes the acoustic guitar!
Thank you very much!
May the Lord guide you for being kind. May many more children like us be helped. I also am thanking the Lord for giving you to us. You are like our guardian Angel helping us everywhere and taking care of us every day. You have never let us down meeting our daily needs.
You are our encouragement. It makes us comfortable in everything we do every time we think of you. May your kindness increase so you can make more children like us happy.
I am thankful for you with all my heart.
