Hello! Most of you know my passion for helping kids who lack the resources to overcome poverty. I founded Lift the Lid 12 years ago and recognize that our work is a small drop of support when the need in our world is endless. But, still, we know that every little milestone is an enormous accomplishment affecting many lives for generations to come.

Today, I’m HAPPY to report that our boarding school for girls, Lenana Girls High School in Kitale, Kenya, has nominated Gloria Vienda for the GREEN KIDS AWARDS. Lenana earned a spot to compete in this national award for their work developing sanitary pads from sugar cane waste, the Nalena Pad Project.

Green Kids Awards is a festival celebrating Kenyan children doing exemplary work toward environmental sustainability and reducing climate change.

Lift the Lid is sponsoring Gloria, who helped develop the Nalena Pad Project from its start in 2021. In addition to covering her travel fare to the festival in Nairobi, plus room and board, we’d like to raise funds to support her work giving girls in Africa the ability to stay in school and carry on everyday life during menstruation.
