A student from Staples High School (Westport, CT) approached me with a great idea. Ella Turner, an Editor for her school magazine, Inklings, believed she could help Lenana Girls’ High School, a boarding school in Kitale, Kenya, create a similar publication to showcase the students’ achievements, culture, and school spirit. See our post announcing her endeavor, the Lenana newsletter team, and the early stages of developing Lenana Beyond Boarders. Yes, the title is Boarders, not Borders.

I am incredibly pleased and proud to see everyone’s hard work come to fruition with our first edition of Lenana Beyond Boarders! Our goal is to create a window into the lives of our Lenana students through words, art, and photography. As you will see, they are more than girls boarding in an agricultural town or girls who lack the financial means to afford an education. They are “Champions in Motion,” global travelers, builders of sanctuaries, celebrants of their culture, and extremely hardworking young women with ambitious goals to continue to go beyond borders.

Thank you for taking a look at Lenana Beyond Boarders!
