We are incredibly grateful to our donors who sponsored five students from Lenana Girls High School in Kitale, Kenya to attend the GLOBAL GIRL LEADING summit in London on October 11, 2024. Our hopes were high in preparing for the girls’ biggest adventure and learning opportunity of their lives. Unfortunately, as the day of the Conference approached, we ran into delays in processing their visas to travel to the UK. It’s difficult to express how disappointed we were when time ran out and it became clear that they would not make it. Life felt unfair.
The GOOD NEWS is that our students were featured at the Conference for their writing, “Letters to Our Daughters,” and the invitation still stands for their London tour, including room and board, school visits, and the chance to experience restaurants, museums, and the theater. Thank you, Mulberry Schools Foundation, Mulberry Schools Trust, and Applied Stories, a UK-based audio drama production company, for taking the time to make this special trip happen. We wish our students at Lenana all the best as they are currently taking their national KCSE exams (a huge milestone for us to host the exam!!) After their exams, we’ll share our new travel dates, as well as Margaret and Mitchele’s letters, which were chosen for the Global Girl Leading anthology. We’re proud of the hard work and bravery all our students show every time they sit down to write!
