Catherine, Beryl, Dorcas, Sharon, and Maureen (as seen in the photos) are interested in the sciences and hope to take their comprehensive KCSE exam in June. First, they need basic supplies and equipment, and we’re asking for your help!

We registered Lenana Girls High School with the Ministry of Education and Kenya National Examination Council. Thank God the school has been approved, and now we have an examination center for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), the equivalent to the SAT test in America. That means our students can sit for exams in our own center. This is all due to your support! The next challenge we face is to complete our science lab to accommodate the 35 students taking their test.

We are so grateful for your support and are planning a celebration for this great milestone in our journey, but please continue with us. We need $4889 (Kshs. 660, 000) for the reagents, basic lab equipment, and 35 chairs to prepare our students for the KCSE in mid-June 2024. Officers from the Kenya National Examination Council will supervise the exam, a requirement to ensure our readiness to operate as an Examination Center. Every donation makes a huge difference. Please team with us!

Within the Kenyan system, there are 2 million children who are in so-called ‘rural or informal’ schools. These schools are in areas where families survive on very low incomes, often in underserved and marginalized areas. These are some of the poorest communities in Kenya, but that does not prevent the parents from having dreams and aspirations for their children. They not only want them to go to school, but they want them to go to good schools so they can break out of the cycle of poverty and lead better lives.

Many of these parents, however, do not have the security of knowing whether the schools they have chosen will stay open or not because informal schools are susceptible to the vagaries of the government registration process. It is a system where there has traditionally been no clear path to registration and/or the demands on the school are unattainable.

All Kenyans want their children to be educated so their communities and country can prosper and grow.

*100% of all donations go to our schools and students. You’ll find secure options for making a tax-deductible donation in the link below, and we’ll send you an acknowledgment letter along with a student’s photo and essay. If you’re interested in sponsoring a student and starting a pen pal, we’re happy to make that happen! Please send an email to saragoff@saragoff.com. Thank you!
