Hope Restored by Purity Momanyi

Thank you Nancy Stucky for your donation to Lenana Girls High School in Kitale, Kenya. Lenana is a new boarding school which sponsors underprivileged girls who score high on the national exam. Offering room and board is important for students living in poverty, orphaned students, and those living with only one parent or elderly grandparents, because home life is not ideal for studying and often they are kept out of school to work.
Purity writes in her essay Hope Restored, “The saddest moment I have ever had is when my mother and father told me our financial status was not good and I had to leave school the following term.”
100% of your donation will go toward eco-friendly projects to build Lenana into a self-sustaining Kenyan model school and toward continuing the education of bright girls like Purity. Thank you, Nancy!

Purity, you are a strong writer, and I’ve enjoyed seeing how you have improved over the past year. Now, this year, congratulations on placing Second in Lenana’s Annual Writing Competition sponsored by Lift the Lid! Stick with your good principles and keep writing!
