It Could Have Been a Lonely Night, by Brigid Nemayian

Brigid Nemayian Namelok Nov 2014

Many thanks to Jill Consor Beck of Upower for her support of Lift the Lid. Upower is a Seattle-based nonprofit that gets undeserved kids into after school fitness activities. To show our thanks, Brigid Nemayian of Namelok Junior Academy in Kisamis, Kenya would like to share her poem, “It Could Have Been a Lonely Night.”

Brigid was awarded an Honorable Mention for her work in Namelok’s 2nd Annual Poetry Competition sponsored by Lift the Lid. In her poem, Brigid writes, “It could have been a poor night, But the moon showered a million sequins.” Perhaps the tireless, heartfelt work of the world’s small nonprofits, such as Upower and Lift the Lid, makes up the moon’s sequins . . . bringing hope to our forgotten children. Thank you, Jill, for your enormous heart and unending enthusiasm! You can read the full poem here:
