We’ve held ELEVEN annual writing competitions at Mogonjet Secondary School in Kericho (Bomet County), Kenya, and I can honestly say that it shows in the students’ writing. I had a recent conversation with my partner at the school and said how much stronger their writing has become over the years in terms of content, passion, and grammar!

In a school of nearly 150 students, all who submit their writing are recognized for doing so. We highlight the 25+ finalists, awarding new students every year, and make a contribution toward their education. The topic for 2023 was “What Would You Do to Improve Your Community?”

Here is our letter acknowledging the finalists and announcing the winners. Our primary focus is to encourage writing, offer tips for improvement, and highlight the strengths of each student’s essay…thereby building confidence! The students are proud of this accomplishment, and we are proud of them!! It takes courage to write and show the world who you are.

*100% of all donations go to our schools and students. I hope you’ll help us show disadvantaged students that we believe in them and assist them in staying in school. You’ll find secure options for making a tax-deductible donation here, and we’ll send you a student’s essay. If you’re interested in sponsoring a student and starting a pen pal, we’re happy to make that happen! Send me an email at saragoff@saragoff.com. Thank you!
