My Life Experience by Faith Mutua
Many heartfelt thanks to Jennifer Lyons in London for making a significant donation to the schools we support through Cinven private equity firm. We would like to share an essay of sheer faith and determination, written by fifteen-year-old Faith Mutua of Lenana Girls High School in Kitale, Kenya.
Lenana is a boarding school for girls living in poverty who score high on the national exam. Faith is the only one of six siblings in her family to attend school. Jennifer and Cinven’s donation will foster learning and open doors for Faith and many students we support like her. Thank you!

Congratulations on your essay My Life Experience being chosen as an Honorable Mention in Lenana’s Second Annual Writing Competition sponsored by Lift the Lid. I can see why you have made it this far in achieving your secondary education, even when you used to have to go without food. I know you will continue on to university, and one day you will be the surgeon you dream of becoming. Keep going and enjoy learning!
