Kind Words For Mother, by Romel Rubio
Romel does not see his mother very often. The first six years of his life were spent with his grandmother, while his mother worked to provide for them. Her name is Marites Rubio, and she visits Romel every now and then at his Aunt Marilyn’s, where he currently lives.
His father passed away before he was born, leaving a permanent void, but his mother is there, even when she isn’t, providing the best she can. Romel, sees that, and her frequent absence can’t weaken the bond between them. Thank you Nancy and Lucian for making a donation to The School in a Cart in Cubao, the Philippines, where Romel goes for free meals, schooling, and guidance. You’ve encouraged him to write this poem, which he can’t wait to share with his mom.
